line drawing of me, D. Morgan Henley
Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my “About” page. I am D. Morgan Henley and the owner of SEO Expert Web Design. I live in beautiful Mobile, Alabama, and I can honestly say, there is no other place on earth that I would rather live. I am a workaholic. Over the past 20 years, I probably averaged working about 70 hours per week. It is not hard to do if you are interested in what you do. What I love about web design is that it is not constrained by the traditional work model. I can work at any time, midnight or noon, it doesn’t matter. I can work when it is raining, during holidays, when it is uncomfortably cold or hot outside. I can work at home, at the office, in a hotel room, or even while on the beach. Airports or the International House of Pancakes, bedroom or patio, it doesn’t matter, as long as I have Internet access.
I have been working with computers since 1993, when I first got involved with database programming. I built my first website around 1998, using Microsoft FrontPage, which was cutting edge and exciting at the time, but a major pain to work with compared to what is available today. What used to take weeks, now takes hours. I found WordPress in 2008, yes, I know, I was late to the party. But, I have found that every day, more people are learning about WordPress for the very first time. Working with WordPress is light-years away from my early days of hand-coding a website, or using FrontPage. The world is a different place than it was in the ’90s, and the Internet has forever changed the landscape. It is incredible how fast we have become totally immersed in the virtual world of the Internet.
In 1990, I finally decided on getting a college education. I have always loved mathematics and problem solving, so, while working full-time, I enrolled in a community college and started taking classes. It took me about 3 years of night classes to rack up enough hours for an Associate’s degree, but I decided to forgo the minor degree, and proceeded to Sam Houston State University to work on my Bachelor’s degree instead.
After earning a BS, I proceeded to take online classes, and at the tender age of 55, I got my Master’s degree in Information Systems and Technology, from South University in Savannah, Georgia.
